My Favorite Video Game: World of Warcraft
I have been playing World of Warcraft (WoW) for 14 to 15 years now. I'll tell you how to get started! The examples I'll give you are from when the game first came out in 2004.
When you first start the game you need to pick a faction. The game was originally about Orcs vs. Humans, so logically you need to pick a side to fight for. The Alliance is the Human faction, but does not only consist of the Humans. They have allies! Originally you could choose from Humans, Gnomes, Night Elves, and Dwarves. The other side of that coin consists of the Horde. Like the Humans, the Orcs had allies. You could choose from Orcs, Trolls, Tauren, or Undead.
The hard choices are not out of the way yet, because now you need to pick a class. Depending on the race of the faction you chose, you will have diferent options for classes. For example Undead and Gnomes cannot be Hunters. Players have speculated it's because you don't want a pet to run off with the leg of the undead, or the pet could eat the Gnome. The first 8 classes were: Hunter, Warlock, Paladin, Shaman, Rogue, Warrior, Druid, and Priest. Each class has their own positives and negetives.
Finally, now that you have the hardest part of the game out of the way, you can start to play! The main gola of this game when it forst came out was to level up to 60 and do dungeons to get the armor you need to face the fearsome dragons and mosnters in raids! Raids were 40 man content. Meaning, you and 39 other real life people needed to work together to defeat the bosses in the raids.
