Pokemon Cards!
I have been a collector my entire life, one of the things I have been collecting ever since I have had adult money is Pokemon cards. In this blog I will tell you about my process so you have some idea where to start your own collection!
The first thing you need to do is pretty obvious, but if you don't prepare for what you want, you may just end up buying a set that has no value or good cards. If you are opening cards to try and make money off of the cards you pull you need to make sure you're opening a set that has desireable cards. If the cards in the set have no value, then you will have a hard time achieving your goals of profiting. If you are opening cards to just collect the set and try to complete it. You have to know when you've opened enough packs yourself and when to start looking to buy single cards others have pulled to complete your collection. Trying to pull all of the cards yourself is significantly more expensive than opening your own for the bulk and the last few you buy as singles. Finally the last reason to open pack is to play the actual Trading Card Game (TCG). You would build a deck of 60 cards and compete with others to see how far you can get. These tournaments go all the way up to Worlds. Meaning people from all over the world will compete for the world champion title.
After you have decided what set you want to open for whatever purpose. You have to begin the hunt for that set. Where I live it is very hard to get pokemon cards at normal retail price because scalpers will know when the stores like Walmart and Target restock and buy all the cards before they even hit the shelves. This all started when the pandemic happened and cards were in very short supply. I was hoping the the issue would die down after the pandemic was over and the supplies could be more stable, but alas, the scalpers are still buying up as much as they can.
